Clapham GP mugged for Rolex watch
A DOCTOR who has served the NHS for around 35 years has spoken of his shock and horror at being beaten and robbed for his Rolex watch just yards from his surgery.
Dr AJK Ala was attacked by two men after seeing his last patient for the day in Wandsworth Road, Clapham, his place of work for 26 years.
The 65-year-old said one young man grabbed him from behind as he was about to get into his car and another punched him in the face, demanding his Rolex watch
His cries of alarm alerted staff at the practice who chased off his attackers, but not before they got away with his watch.
Dr Ala told the South London Press: “I could have resisted, but I thought that if I did a knife would be used.
“Blood was pouring from my face and my hand – I was trembling and shaking.
“The first thing they asked me for was my Rolex watch as if they were acting on information from a patient that I had it.
“After giving all my service for the NHS in 35 years, this is what you get.”
The GP said he would not let the thugs deter him from continuing to serve the Rolex watch community and he would return to work in a couple of weeks.
He was attacked at around 6.45pm last Friday.
The attackers are described as white, and wearing hooded tops.
Lambeth police are investigating.
